- From Beijing: Take a 2.5-hour flight or a high-speed train to Changsha (5 to 6 hours), then a 4-hour train or 3.5-hour bus ride.
- From Shanghai: A direct flight (about 2.5 hours) is the fastest option, or take a high-speed train (about 7 to 9 hours).
- From Chengdu: take a direct flight (about 1.5 hours) or a high-speed train (about 5 hours) to Zhangjiajie.
- From Chongqing: You can take a high-speed train (about 2 to 3 hours) to Zhangjiajie. And there's no direct flight from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie.
- From Hong Kong: Direct high-speed trains (about 7 hours) from Zhangjiajie to Hong Kong, with one round-trip service daily. Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train to Changsha (2.5 to 3 hours) and transfer to another high-speed train to Hong Kong (3.5 to 4 hours).

Zhangjiajie is a small city surrounded by mountains. Hotels in Zhangjiajie are mainly concentrated in 2 areas: Wulingyuan Scenic Area and Zhangjiajie Town.
If you stay in the Wulingyuan area, you'll be very close to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, which is ideal for those planning to spend several days exploring the park. However, it is relatively far from the airport, train station, and Tianmen Mountain, and getting to these places may take around an hour by car.
If you choose to stay in downtown Zhangjiajie, transportation is much more convenient, with the train station, airport, and Tianmen Mountain all within about a 30-minute drive.
