Joseph Chan, W’91, C’91, is a senior partner at Sidley Austin, a leading law firm. He has been recognized for many consecutive years by Chambers Asia Pacific, Legal 500, and IFLR 1000 as one of Asia’s leading lawyers. He has executed more than US$60 billion in strategic M&A and capital-raising transactions that span the health-care, technology, and consumer industries. He has led a number of M&A and private equity “deals of the year” in China; his clients include prominent Chinese enterprises, Fortune 500 companies, sovereign wealth funds, private equity funds, and hedge funds.
Joseph frequently speaks at industry conferences and leading institutions such as Harvard and Stanford. He has been quoted often in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the South China Morning Post, Harvard Business Review, Bloomberg Businessweek, Caijing, and Forbes.
Joseph received a BA in international relations and a BS in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a board member of the Wharton Club Shanghai.
